TV ad trauma

If you were born in Ireland during the 1960’s or 70’s and you have repressed this particular memory then my apologies but the world needs to know. During this period every evening, at around tea time as we call it, TV ad’s showing mites, ticks, liver fluke and other infestations apparently taking over our farms  would appear on our TV’s. As a child I was horrified at what the fuck are these things were doing, maybe some kind of new guerilla group that had to be wiped out? remember this was the hight of the IRA campaign. I was also appalled by the graphic nature of the ad’s sometimes showing the liver fluke in their own natural environment. Gross. Anyway much as I searched and searched I couldn’t find any of these ad’s on the web so I thought I would give you a collection of quality trauma nostalgia instead:

and now as an antidote the best ad of all time on Irish TV:

  1. that is gorillas coming down from the hills { with guns } in various news broadcasts from war torn regions of yesteryear sounded to childlike ears that the endangered primates were fighting back …… n now look

  2. I’m getting flashbacks of Wexford hurler Tony Doran and his Nilverm ads from the late 70s.- mange mites and liver fluke! if the Nilverm didn’t ate the lots of them Tony would belt them round the place with his Hurley.
